Conservative Response #5: Girl Power Through F-Bombs?

As a mother of sons – I have a lot to say about this. As a mother of daughters – you should too.

I stumbled across this video from the FCKH8 website. The same website that was responsible for the “Hey White People! I’m over racism!” video with the kids from Ferguson, Missouri. This video is five young girls speaking about feminism. They touch on the same old facts that have been refuted time and time again… The wage gap, the 77¢ pay like, sexual assault, etc.

So, watch the video and then we’ll continue…

WARNING: The following video is the ‘censored’ version, however, a couple less offensive words haven’t been bleeped and the F-Word is still in print on the video itself.

Let what you just saw soak for a minute…

I’ll move past the obnoxious way the girls bobble their heads, wave their hands and the attitude their posturing is sending out. That would take a whole blog on its own. As for the rest of it… For WHAT they’re saying in that manner… Ready to break this down?

“I’m not some helpless princess in distress” – Awesome. Fantastic. What this world needs is a lot less princesses in distress that need saving. So why then are you portraying the helpless oppressed victim that feminism insists that you are? Do you not see that you’re portraying yourselves as helpless victims that need the government to change things for you?

“What’s more offensive? Little girls saying [bleep] of the way sexist way society treats girls and women?” – Well, let’s see… Society has given women the right to vote, the right to work outside the home, the right to stay home and not work… The right to choose life – or not, marry, stay single, be lesbian, straight or bisexual. They have ALL sorts of rights. Society sees them with pretty much the SAME rights as men – sans and few occupations that I’m sure won’t be that way for long (even though they should stay that way…) So, all those things compared to little girls saying the F word… Not only is the latter more offensive, it’s even more offensive that someone has allowed their children to be exploited for their own agendas over things that have been consistently debunked.

“Women are payed 23% less for the exact same work!” – This is a half truth based on a complete lie. The 23-cent gender pay gap is simply the difference between the average earnings of all men and women working full-time. It does not account for differences in occupations, positions, education, job tenure or hours worked per week. (Which is the ‘exact same work’ lie) The 23% less statistic comes from a comparison of apples to oranges. It compares female nurses to male lawyers, female secretaries to male economists. When you add a control for occupation, college degree, experience and life choices (like women working jobs with flexible hours to care for their families), that wage gap virtually disappears.

“1 in 5 women will be raped or sexually assaulted by a man” – Honestly, I didn’t have trouble believing that statistic when you allow date rape into the statistics. I, however, was incorrect in my belief. The one-in-five figure is based on the Campus Sexual Assault Study, commissioned by the National Institute of Justice and conducted from 2005 to 2007. Northeastern University’s James Alan Fox and Mount Holyoke College’s Richard Moran, two distinguished criminologists, have revealed:

“The estimated 19% sexual assault rate among college women is based on a survey at two large four-year universities, which might not accurately reflect our nation’s colleges overall. In addition, the survey had a large non-response rate, with the clear possibility that those who had been victimized were more apt to have completed the questionnaire, resulting in an inflated prevalence figure.”

They also noted that “attempted forced kissing” and any sexual activity while intoxicated were counted as sexual assault. (Who among the sexually active haven’t had sex while intoxicated? Not many. I would guess, in fact, probably 1 in 5 women…)Miniskirt_-_rear_view

“Stop telling girls how to dress and start telling boys not to rape.” – You’re kidding me right? Aside from a very small, sick, few, no one tells boys to rape or that rape is okay. What boys/men need to be taught (and I’d bet many are, as I know mine are) is to respect girls/women – all women no matter where they’re from, what they look like, etc. The problem is, even if when boys are being taught that, society has dropped the ball on teaching girls to respect themselves.

“Society’s next step is [women] being able to walk to the car without fear” – Society is what is making us feel unsafe by constantly trying to take away our right to defend ourselves. Leave the 2nd Amendment alone, learn to handle a firearm, get licensed to carry one and boom – you handled it. NOT society.

“It’s messed up that society teaches girls that our body, boobs and butt are more important than our brains” – I agree. It is completely messed up that society places so much focus on your boobs and butt and not your brains. So, how about drawing attention away from your boobs and butt and to your brain by covering up your boobs and butt so we can focus on the fact that you have a brain. Oh, wait… I forgot… I’m not supposed to tell you how to dress and tell boys not to rape. Consider this… You’re asking for respect. Are you not? How about dressing, behaving and living in a respectful manner and see how that works for you. You have to give respect to get respect.

You want boys to respect your body? YOU respect it by covering it and showing a boy that you want his respect. It’s not about teaching boys not to rape. Most of the boys looking at the way you’re dressed won’t even consider rape, but you’re asking for straw spun into gold if you expect them to not look at you and desire you when you dress like that. And be honest… The reason you dress like that is so they WILL look at you. Telling society to teach boys to respect you, even though you dress in dental floss, is like telling society to teach you not to have PMS. Some of the way I see people dress… All I can do is feel bad for the moths in their homes that are clearly starving…

Now the moms chime in…

“The continued sexism women still face!” – The only sexism there is, that you face, is your own sexism towards not only the female population, but the male population as well. Stop perpetuating and spouting out these ‘facts’ that have been REPEATEDLY debunked and face up to the real facts. The ‘radical’ feminist views your touting make you a VICTIM and you’re too outraged by lies (or think your daughters are cute) to realize that the misogyny you hate is created, alive and well, because of YOU.

“Instead of cleaning these girls mouths out with soap, maybe society should clean up its act.” – Hey, society does have some work to do on many things. Nothing you’ve listed here, but I digress. However, you seem to have overlooked one small thing… Well, large thing really… Aren’t you and those foul mouthed little girls part of society!?! Funny how that works. We should all change what we’re doing and you should what… Be allowed to dirty up what we’ve already (and repeatedly) cleaned up for you?

“This is what a feminist looks like” – Yeah, I guess if by feminist you mean ‘a female who spreads lies and myths, teaches their daughters and other females to be victims and dependent on the government to take care of them instead of taking care of themselves and that equality with men only applies to certain things’ then yeah. That’s what one looks like. However, a real WOMAN who embraces their feminism looks like this:

At the end, after the ‘buy a shirt and give money to this non-existent cause’ spiel, the little boy, dressed as a girl, saying “When you tell a boy not to act like a girl, you’re saying it’s bad to be a girl!” – No we aren’t. Quit twisting things to sound like something they’re NOT. It’s not bad to be a girl! It’s not! It is bad, though, for a boy to be a girl!

Why? Well, it’s like this… BECAUSE HE’S NOT A GIRL! What’s not right is for you to make a boy feel bad for being a boy. There is a reason there are boys and there is a reason there are girls. Stop trying to vilify one to the other.

I saved my favorite bit for the last… “Girls just want to have FUN! – Damental rights.” – You have GOT to be joking… Right? Do you even know which fundamental rights it is that you claim you don’t have?

rosieThe U.N. Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, state these fundamental rights.

Right to self-determination
Right to liberty
Right to due process of law
Right to freedom of movement
Right to freedom of thought
Right to freedom of religion
Right to freedom of expression
Right to peaceably assemble
Right to freedom of association

Add to that the right to life and the right to pursue happiness.

Now, please tell me… Which of the FUN-damental rights are denied to girls? None. Truthfully, they probably have more.

STOP being a victim. Especially to something that doesn’t even exist. And ESPECIALLY stop ingraining it into these young girls that they have somehow been given a raw deal because they were born without a penis!! Teach them the WONDROUS things available to them that aren’t available to men!

Girls can make and give life. (Sadly, they even have the ability to legally TAKE life.)
Girls don’t have to register with Selective Service.
Girls don’t have to support a family by herself.
Girls can do boy things without being called ‘gay’.
Girls can be treated like royalty if they respect themselves and insist others respect them as well.

And here’s the best part… Girls don’t HAVE to do the things she can and can do the things she doesn’t HAVE to do. HOW is that not empowering? You’re so busy whining about something you THINK is unjust an can’t see that THIS IS A WOMAN’S WORLD! This isn’t a man’s world. STOP saying that it is. It’s not. Women have more rights and more choices than MEN do! Quit whining, quit perpetuating lies, quit ingraining your daughters with lies and enjoy the power you already have!

Girls… Listen to these boys in the video they made to tell girls what they really feel… THIS is empowering…
